We’re Not In Kansas Anymore

Wayne County (now Jayne, of course) was a pioneer. Signed to the same management company in the early 70s as David Bowie, County was at the vanguard of New York’s nascent punk scene before relocating to London to form The Electric Chairs.

While their most famous track was succinctly entitled ‘F*** Off’, their track ‘Max’s Kansas City’ has been used in Nightclubbing – The Birth Of Punk Rock in NYC – a new documentary about the legendary nightclub Max’s Kansas City and the wider New York alternative rock scene of the 70s.

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
