We Are Family

We Are Family

Family were a progressive rock group active primarily from 1966 to 1973. Renowned for their eclectic sound that blended rock, jazz, blues, and folk influences, they created a distinctive style that set them apart from their contemporaries. The band’s lineup included several talented musicians, but Roger Chapman, the lead vocalist, was particularly noteworthy for his powerful and unique singing style, characterised by a vibrato-laden delivery and raw intensity. They scored UK hit singles with ‘No Mules Fool’ (1969), ‘Strange Band’ (1970) and ‘In My Own Time’ (1971) and success with albums such as A Song For Me (1970), Anyway (1970), Fearless (1971) and Bandstand (1972). Roger Chapman carved a notable career as a solo performer and enjoyed success, especially on the continent, with albums such as Chappo (1979), Mail Order Magic (1980) and Hyenas Only Laugh for Fun (1981). Cherry Red represent much of the back catalogue, including solo material from Roger Chapman. Drop us a line if you’d like to know more.
