This Groove Gives You Wings!

Penned by Russ Ballard (a prolific songwriter who made his name with the rock band Argent), ‘New York Groove’ was a UK Top 10 hit in 1975 for popular glam rock band Hello before being covered by Ace Frehley of Kiss. Frequently used in TV and film, Hello‘s version has been a featured recently in Red Bull’s Culture Clash, an indoor sound clash event inspired by Jamaican sound system culture, where four crews compete against each other in genre-bending musical competition.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
