Sweet and Cool Caravelles

Sweet and Cool Caravelles

Lois Wilkinson and Andrea Simpson – collectively, The Caravelles – were stars on both sides of the Atlantic back in 1963, when The Beatles were still an unknown quantity in the States. Their single ‘You Don’t Have To Be A Baby To Cry’ was a huge international smash, a breathy pop gem which was more than a match for America’s girl group explosion of the period. One of The Caravelles’ lesser-known singles, ‘Don’t Blow Your Cool’, features in the new Sky TV drama mini-series Sweetpea.
