STRANGE FOLK!
Back in 1970, folk-rock band Jade – fronted by singer Marian Segal – issued their sole album, Fly On Strangewings. It sold modestly at the time but has subsequently become considered an Acid Folk classic, attracting huge sums on vinyl and revered by connoisseurs of the era. Cherry Red own the rights to this masterpiece, alongside many folk and folk-adjacent tracks (acid-folk, folk-rock, folk-blues, etc.). The myriad artists whose tracks we represent include those on John Peel‘s Dandelion label (Beau, Bridget St. John, Principal Edwards Magic Theatre), Strawbs, John Martyn, Sandy Denny, Chad & Jeremy, Capercaillie, Plainsong/Iain Matthews, Unicorn, the Woods Band, Ian A. Anderson and Dando Shaft, plus dozens of albums on Alan Green’s cult labels Folk Heritage, Midas and Westwood, as well as the wealth of Irish/Celtic talent within the Emerald Music archive.
