Stairway To Prog Heaven

Italian progressive act Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM) emerged in the early 1970s with intricate compositions and fusion of rock, classical and jazz elements. Their track ‘The World Became The World’ is an English-language version of the Italian song ‘Impressioni di Settembre’, featuring poignant lyrics and a rich, symphonic arrangement. Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
