Spri-ghtly Does It
Spriguns of Tolgus were a British folk rock group formed in 1972 by Mike and Mandy Morton. Having circulated a cassette album Rowdy Dowdy Day, they signed with Decca and released two albums. They were much hyped within the folk scene (prompting comparisons with Steeleye Span, whose Tim Hart produced them) and although they never progressed beyond cult status, they were popular on the live scene and Mandy later enjoyed a successful career in Scandinavia (fleeing there in 1978 after punk broke).
In recent years, their albums have become sought after by collectors.
Cherry Red now exclusively represent the rights to most of their albums from 1974-1987, including Rowdy Dowdy Day, Jack With A Feather, Magic Lady, Sea Of Storms and Valley Of Light.
Watch out for a career-spanning multi-CD box set next year!
