SKANKING ON THE CEILING!

Cherry Red is the proud custodian of Moon Ska Records, a label that played a defining role in shaping the global ska and ska-punk movement which lived on through Moon Ska World (formerly Moon Ska Europe). Run by Laurie “Lol” Pryor, Moon Ska played host to music by the likes of Rhoda Dakar, Symarip, The Upsessions and Go Jimmy Go, as well as venturing into older reggae and beyond. The label helped to preserve a movement built on independence, creativity and community – the same spirit celebrated in P-Rock The Doc, in which Whitmore’s Moon Ska track ‘On The Ceiling’ soundtracks the story of the early 2000s DIY punk and ska scene and the rebellious rise of P-Rock TV.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
