SHARK SNIPS SOUP?

Stephen “Snips” Parsons went solo in the late ’70s with his band Snips and the Video Kings, releasing the album Video King in 1978, produced with Steve Lillywhite. He followed it with La Rocca! in 1981, featuring contributions from Midge Ure and Chris Spedding. A new 3-CD box set, Snips: The Solo Years 1978–1981, combines the albums with singles and 31 previously unreleased recordings, including BBC sessions and live tracks. Cherry Red also represents Sharks’ abandoned third album.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
