Platinum Soul

We have acquired the rights to Platinum Garage Recordings, a superb catalogue of contemporary US soul and R&B boasting a recordings from artists such as Preston Glass, The Spinners, Ali Woodson, Chubby Tavares and more. It expands on Cherry Red’s range of vintage soul from the 60s to the 80s. From club classics such as the original version of ‘Money’s Too Tight To Mention’ by The Valentine Brothers (as popularised by Simply Red) to Northern Soul floorfillers like ‘Compared To What’ by Mr. Flood’s Party, 70s disco favourite ‘How Long’ by J.J. Barnes, albums by such respected artists as Doris Duke and Oscar Toney Jr. and 80s material from the mighty Edwin Starr, we have a little treasure trove of vintage soul, funk, R&B and blues.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
