A new 3-CD set, Gettin’ Ready, The Eel Pie Island Story 1962-1969, charts the history of Eel Pie Island, the tiny Thames venue where British music evolved in real time, from early-60s rock’n’roll and raw R&B through soul, psychedelia and into progressive rock. Featuring many of the era’s biggest artists, the collection traces how British rock and pop absorbed, transformed and moved beyond its American influences. And it draws heavily on Cherry Red’s own catalogue, with tracks from The Moody Blues, The Artwoods, Bo Street Runners, Arthur Brown, The Mickey Finn, The Action, Wynder K. Frog and many more.
