Momus – the musical alias for Nick Currie – has been making off-kilter pop for three decades, with spells on El, Creation, Cherry Red and his own imprint Analog Baroque.

For the uninitiated, think a solo version of Pet Shop Boys with colourful lyrics inspired by French literature and sex!

Most of Momus‘ albums are now represented by Cherry Red, as sampled on the forthcoming 3-CD anthology, Pubic Intellectual, released in late August.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
