Midnight Special
Midnight Music was founded in 1981 by Nick Ralph, ex-editor of cult 70s magazine Dark Star.
Over more than a decade, the label nurtured a variety of talent, including atmospheric post-punk act Sad Lovers & Giants (and spin-off The Snake Corps), goth/synth combo The Essence, political indie pop band McCarthy and fellow contributors to NME’s C86 cassette, The Wolfhounds.
Later, the label signed melodic jangly pop bands The Popguns and The Corn Dollies and Manchester band King Of The Slums.
