Merrell’s Mu-sic
Merrell Fankhauser is an American singer/songwriter/guitarist, who was most active in the 1960s and 1970s with acts like Merrell & The Exiles, Fapardokly, HMS Bounty and Mu, as well as working solo.
Merrell’s work with HMS Bounty, and in particular the album Things! (and title track ‘Things (Goin’ Round In My Mind)’) deserve highlighting. Released in 1968, this album captured Merrell at his acid-folk/psychedelic peak – tuneful, melodic ‘summer of love’ music at its best.
Cherry Red are delighted to represent Merrell’s catalogue, including his work with Mu (Mu from 1971 and The Last Album from 1974), Fapardokly (1968), 1976’s Maui album and his early work from 1964-1967. The new 6-CD anthology Goin’ Round In My Mind 1964-1979 is out today on our Grapefruit label.
