MATTHEW’S

Musician/singer-songwriter Iain Matthews was an original member of Fairport Convention and later the voice behind Matthews Southern Comfort’s UK No.1 hit ‘Woodstock’. His solo single from 1978, ‘Don’t Hang Up Your Dancing Shoes’, is currently his most popular track on Spotify, a break-out hit on Tik Tok and can also be heard in an episode of Peacock original spy thriller show Ponies (Now TV). Cherry Red represents much of Matthews’ work, spanning his extensive solo career and the band Plainsong. A new 6-CD box set, Rhythm Of The West (The Columbia Years 1975-1977), is out now.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
