As a founding member of folk-rock band Fairport Convention, Iain Matthews is no stranger to rock and roll. Leaving Fairport Convention in 1969 to form his own band, Matthews Southern Comfort, he enjoyed a UK number one with a cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Woodstock’ in 1970. Cherry Red are now the proud representatives of over thirty studio albums and recordings of over sixty live concerts from Iain’s solo career released through the Rockburgh label from 1978 onwards.

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
