Matchbox On Fire!

Matchbox were at the vanguard of a burgeoning rockabilly / rock’n’roll revival in Britain across the 1970s.

This culminated in a purple patch, when the band enjoyed various chart hits. Immediately prior to this, in 1978, they issued an acclaimed album Settin’ The Woods On Fire on Chiswick Records.

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
