Make Mine A Mekon

Make Mine A Mekon

Springing from Leeds University’s Fine Art Department (along with Delta 5 and Gang Of Four), The Mekons saw themselves as facilitators, ignoring the supposed divide between audience and performers. Within this contract to entertain, their mantra was that anyone could do it. Signed after playing their second show to Bob Last’s seminal Fast Product label, they made two acclaimed singles in 1978. With its towering lead in drum crescendo, the second of these, ‘Where Were You?’, has been used in the recent TV documentary about snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, The Edge Of Everything, available to watch on Amazon Prime.
