LOOKING THROUGH IAIN’S EYES

Plainsong was originally a British country rock/folk rock band, formed in early 1972 by Iain Matthews, formerly of Fairport Convention and Matthews Southern Comfort, and Andy Roberts, previously with Everyone and The Liverpool Scene. Released in 1972, the band’s debut album In Search Of Amelia Earhart became Record Mirror’s Contemporary Folk record of the Year. The band split soon after release, taking eighteen years for a revival and recording several more albums in the process. Cherry Red look after the output from both eras of Plainsong, as well as over thirty studio albums and recordings of over sixty live concerts from Iain’s solo career across the ages. A new 5-CD Iain Matthews box set, Thro’ My Eyes: Vertigo Years 1970-1974, is out today.
