LONGING FOR INDIE-PENDENCE?
Something For The Longing: Scottish Independent Pop 1985–1999 is a new 3-CD box set compiled by filmmaker/author Grant McPhee, tracing the evolution of Scotland’s indie music scene from the mid-1980s through to the end of the millennium. Featuring mainstays including The Jesus and Mary Chain, Belle and Sebastian, Primal Scream and Mogwai, the collection captures the breadth and creativity of a scene shaped by C86, DIY culture and influential independent labels, combining classic tracks, underground favourites and previously unreleased recordings. Cherry Red represents several bands that helped build the scene, including tracks by The Jasmine Minks, Pink Kross, Biff Bang Pow!, The Revolving Paint Dream and more.
