Leeds Are United!
Like many Northern cities, Leeds enjoyed an explosion of music triggered by the big bang of punk rock in 1977. Our new 3-CD set Where Were You: Independent Music From Leeds 1978-89 is the first comprehensive anthology of that fertile era. From punk to goth, indie pop to industrial dancefloor, out-and-out pop to underground psychedelia, the four hours’ worth of recordings celebrate the musical diversity emanating from the city’s studios and clubs. Cherry Red is well represented, with tracks from the likes of Gang Of Four, Abrasive Wheels, The Boys, The Expelled, The Underdogs, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Third Circle and Son Of Sam. Drop us a line if you’d like to know more.
