Laying Down The Tracks

Fat Mattress was a short-lived band most notable in the rock history books for being formed by Jimi Hendrix Experience bassist Noel Redding. The group released two studio albums: Fat Mattress (1969) and Fat Mattress II (1970) before Redding duly re-joined Hendrix’s band. Their music showcased a diverse mix of tuneful psychedelia, folk rock and bluesy material. All recordings by Fat Mattress are currently available for licensing and will appear on a new 3-CD set at the end of January.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
