I’ve Got My Orange Crush

Smashing Orange were a U.S. shoegaze band formed in 1990 by siblings Rob and Sara Montejo, who earned early comparisons to My Bloody Valentine and Ride. Their debut single ‘My Deranged Heart’, which arrived in 1991 on UK imprint Native, was a swirling, feedback-laced track that set the tone for their promising early releases. After a John Peel radio session and two albums, they shifted to a heavier sound before disbanding in the mid-’90s. The aforementioned track featured in an episode of the new series of US action drama NCIS. Drop us a line if you’d like to hear more.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
