Back in the Sixties, he was nicknamed ‘The Godfather Of Ska’ – and with good reason. Laurel Aitken was one of the most prolific, successful Jamaican musicians and writers of his day, with a prolific output.

Ranging from R&B, Ska and Rocksteady to the Skinhead Reggae of the late 60s and early 70s to Ska Revival via his musical rebirth on the back of 2Tone in the 1980s, Aitken’s music had an upbeat, joyous vibe, memorable lyrics and irresistible beat.

His track ‘Bewildered And Blue’ is featured in the new series of Industry, a joint HBO/BBC Two drama series following a group of young graduates competing for a position at investment bank in London.

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
