If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Etam

Issued in late 1981, ‘Cambodia’ was the fourth single by Kim Wilde, who was one of Britain’s biggest pop stars that year. The record reached No. 12 in the UK charts, but reached the top spot in France, and has enjoyed an enduring legacy as a fan favourite ever since. ‘Cambodia’ now graces the Christmas 2021 advert of French clothing brand ETAM. Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
