GTR On Guitar

British supergroup GTR was the brainchild of Yes and Asia guitarist Steve Howe and Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.

Though both are known for their progressive rock leanings, the one GTR album (self-titled) released in 1986 appealed to lovers of AOR.

A short-lived affair, the band only lasted two years but the LP’s cult status has grown in stature. It spawned a single ‘When The Heart Rules The Mind’, which reached No .14 in the charts.

Cherry Red are custodians of the GTR album and have worked on multiple other albums and projects with both Howe and Hackett, as well as GTR producer Geoff Downes (of Yes, The Buggles and Asia fame).

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
