GOING DOWN TO LIVERPOOL

Jah Wobble and Liverpool-based duo Tian Qiyi (Wobble’s sons Charlie and John) have announced Mystic Liverpool, a reinterpretation of The Beatles’ psychedelic late 1960s work, released on 14 August. Blending dub basslines with Chinese and Mongolian instrumentation, the album reimagines songs from the Sgt. Pepper’s and Magical Mystery Tour era through a uniquely cross-cultural lens. Recorded at Pagoda Studios in Liverpool and rooted in the family’s deep connection to both the city and Chinese musical traditions, the project combines psychedelic pop, dub and traditional instrumentation into a highly personal tribute to the Fabs’ most exploratory period.
