GO EAST, YOUNG MAN?
A Strange Light From The East: Eastern Influenced Western Music 1965-72 is a new 3-CD collection exploring the period when Western musicians embraced the sounds, structures and philosophies of Eastern music, helping to reshape rock, folk and psychedelia. Featuring a diverse range of artists, the set traces how Indian classical music, modal jazz and Middle Eastern influences inspired a wave of musical experimentation that would ultimately influence progressive rock, proto-punk and world music. Cherry Red represent a wealth of artists that straddle rock, folk and psych – including tracks by Dantalian’s Chariot, The Mirage, Third Ear Band, The Riot Squad, Tuesday’s Children, Big Jim Sullivan and more.
