GIVE EM EL!

GIVE EM EL!

Back in 1984, Cherry Red A&R man Mike Alway founded a new imprint, él Records, dedicated to a fragrant, melodic and quintessentially (posh) English yet cosmopolitan style of independent pop. Artists with such colourful names (and music) as The King Of Luxembourg (actually 70s pin-up Simon Turner), Would-Be-Goods, Momus, Louis Philippe, Bad Dream Fancy Dress and even the mighty Felt graced the stylish él label. In recent years, Mike has re-styled él to unveil a treasure trove of cool 50s and early 60s music but the original él recordings from the 1980s are still available for licence.
