FUNKY (K)NIGHTS
Celebrating 30 years since its original release, Beverley Knight’s The B-Funk is widely regarded as one of the defining releases of 1990s British soul. Originally released on Dome Records, the album introduced Knight’s powerful gospel-influenced voice through tracks including the enduring UK swing anthem ‘Flavour Of The Old School’. A new expanded 2-CD edition features a newly remastered version of the album alongside rare mixes and previously unreleased recordings, highlighting the record’s lasting influence on UK R&B/soul culture. The record’s continued relevance was recently underlined when key track ‘Mutual Feeling’ was sampled on ‘Backd00r’, the 2025 US hit by Playboi Carti and Kendrick Lamar.
