Fruity Funk?

This week’s track is Citrus Sun’s deliciously funky makeover of ‘Down For The Third Time’, a classic groove from Bobby Caldwell’s 1978 debut. Bluey – who made his name with Light Of The World and Incognito – leads this side project band with Natalie Duncan on vocals and great work by Dominic Glover (trumpet) and Charlie Allen (guitar). The single featured on album Anaconga, released in 2024 on Dome as an homage to jazz and soul greats from back in the day.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
