Find Nirvana At Cherry Red
Nirvana (no, not that one!) were founded in 1967 at the height of psychedelia by Patrick Campbell-Lyons and Alex Spyropoulos.
Though the band achieved only limited commercial success, they were acclaimed by the critics. The group pioneered baroque-flavoured, melodic psychedelia (file under Beach Boys, Zombies Procol Harum et al). Cherry Red represent all of the band’s post-Island Records back catalogue, including Black Flower (first released as Dedicated To Markos III in 1970), Local Anaesthetic (originally issued on Vertigo in 1971),
Songs Of Love And Praise (Philips, 1972), the latter including a revamp of their classic hit ‘Rainbow Chaser’. Also available is the debut solo album by Patrick, Me And My Friend, from 1973, together with many later recordings.
