Fancy The Pub?
As pub rock evolved from the mid-70s onwards, it absorbed influences from emerging musical movements, blending its raw, no-frills energy with elements of punk, new wave, the mod revival, and even touches of reggae. Alongside its foundation in classic rock, rock‘n’roll, and rollicking R&B, the genre also carried a hint of Brit soul, reflecting the diverse sounds shaping the era. A new 3-CD set, Time! Gentlemen!, features a selection of cuts from many of the usual suspects of the genre but goes beyond the usual fare. Cherry Red boasts a treasure trove of tracks by pub rock acts including Philip Rambow, Tyla Gang, Steve Gibbons Band, Straight Eight and more.
