Fancy Feeling Good?

Initially formed as a studio outfit by seasoned producer Mike Hurst, Fancy scored with their very first single, a cover of The Troggs’ ‘Wild Thing’, which reached No. 14 in the US charts in 1974. This prompted the formation of a proper band, which duly recorded two albums, Wild Thing and Something To Remember, the former wielding another key track in ‘Feel Good’. The song has been sampled over a hundred times (most notably by the Beastie Boys on ‘3-Minute Rule’) and was recently heard in the US sports drama series Winning Time: The Rise Of The Lakers Dynasty on HBO, which chronicles the 1980s LA Lakers basketball team.

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
