Dreamy Sample!
German electronic masters Tangerine Dream, founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese, are considered one of the pioneering electronica acts.
They helped to develop the musical scene known as “kosmische” (cosmic), enjoyed a successful career composing film soundtracks such as Sorcerer (1979) and influenced everyone from Steven Wilson to Kasabian, including the makers of Netflix show Stranger Things, who licensed two of their tracks from Cherry Red.
Tangerine Dream are also highly sought after for samples: their 1985 track ‘Yellowstone Park’ was recently used on Dave East and Harry Fraud’s 2021 hip hop album Hoffa.
Other samples from the Cherry Red library include Renaissance’s ‘Mother Russia’ (by Nas), Renaissance’s ‘Sisters’ (by Dave East) and Graham Bonnet’s ‘Warm Ride’ (by The Avalanches).
