DREAM RYDERS

Cited as key players in the so-called ‘Paisley Underground’ scene, American band The Long Ryders were actually rooted as much in alternative country music (Gram Parsons style) as psychedelia. As such, their debut album Native Sons fused garage rock and folk rock with country. The LP’s standout single, ‘I Had A Dream’, beautifully blends chiming 12-strings, distorted guitars and a devastating rhythm section. The band have just announced a new studio album – High Noon Hymns – due for release in March. We’ll share some new music from the band in the weeks to come but for now listen / download a classic track below.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
