DIAL 999 FOR GAMING?

Punk veterans 999 emerged during punk’s big splash in 1977, and have outlived most of their peers from that era, favouring tough, straightforward rock over speedier tempos. Lead singer Nick Cash‘s vocals remain the most effective instrument for the band’s confrontational lyrics. The band’s 1980 track ‘Inside Out’ features in the new EA Sports game Skate, bringing 999’s classic punk sound to a whole new audience.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
