Cherry Red Acquires Mike Cotton Recordings

Back in 1964, jazzer Mike Cotton and his band cut one of the legendary Mod albums of the period, which has never been reissued. Rooted in the same fusion of R&B and jazz popularised by Georgie Fame, and driven by Hammond organ, the Mike Cotton Sound also cut numerous 45s across the 1960s. Their recordings are now available for licence.

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
