Cherry Red acquire Sunburst Records catalogue

Just as Purple Records (now represented by Cherry Red) had been created around Deep Purple, so Sunburst Records revolved around David Coverdale‘s next band Whitesnake.

Founded in 1978, Sunburst signed several hard and soft rock acts, whose output is now available for licence – including singles/albums by Deep Purple‘s Jon Lord, Grand Theft, Melanie Duval, Steve Linton and famous songwriter Wayne Bickerton.

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
