Casino Classics

The Casinos was a nine-member white doo-wop group from Cincinnatti, Ohio, led by Gene Hughes. Although they were best-known for their 1967 hit ‘Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye’, today’s tune is their 1964 track ‘That’s The Way’, an uptempo R&B number which was recently used in the new Amazon Prime sports drama series Fifteen Love. The recording was made for local label Terry Records before enjoying a UK release in 1967 on Ember.

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
