Byzantine Rock
Formed during the Progressive Rock boom at the dawn of the 1970s, London-based band Byzantium made two now collectable albums for A&M – Byzantium and Seasons Changing – which were followed by a self-released effort, Live & Studio. Founder member Jamie Rubenstein had previously been in Ora, who made an obscure eponymous LP for the independent Tangerine label in 1969.
Byzantium were also notable for nurturing the talents of Chaz Jankel, prior to his tenure with Ian Dury & The Blockheads.
Cherry Red now represent the rights to recordings by both Byzantium and Ora.
