BROTHERS IN PSALMS

Johnny and The Drivers were formed in Berlin around 1981 by (the erstwhile “Creepy”) John Thomas, after he left the Edgar Broughton Band. Featuring the likes of Steve Broughton and Joe Dicarlo, the band toured throughout Europe; they were one of the first bands to play behind the Iron Curtain in Poland and East Germany. The group recorded two albums, This Must Be The Night and Homing In On Zero, both of which are represented by Cherry Red, alongside four albums by the aforementioned Edgar Broughton Band and Creepy John Thomas. Johnny and The Drivers’ track ‘Do The Mambo’ is featured in new US crime comedy film Brothers, starring Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
