Boxing Clever

Formed in 1982 when former members of The Subway Sect teamed up with charismatic US singer Dig Wayne, JoBoxers stormed the UK chart the following year with their anthem ‘Boxerbeat’ while on tour with Madness. Their music was an explosive mix of northern soul, swing, rockabilly, punk and new wave and they seemed set to take over the world. Now for the first time a new 3CD boxset Just Got Lucky – The Complete Works 1983-1986 is set for release, which compiles their complete recordings and hit singles. Listen below to the previously unreleased gem ‘A Thorn In My Side’ and drop us a line if you’d like to know more!

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
