Annie Ross was a singer and actress, best known as a member of the influential jazz trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross. Her pioneering of the vocalese style of jazz singing (where words are added to an instrumental solo improvisation) led to a storied career in music and cinema. Her 1963 track ‘Like Someone In Love’ has featured in a recent episode of FX produced horror drama series Grotesquerie about a crime fighting detective and nun team. Drop us a line to hear more.

FOXY FRIENDS

Noosha Fox and friends injected some sophisticated glamour into the UK charts of the mid-1970s. Fox‘s ‘Only You Can’ peaked at No. 3 while ‘S-S-S Single Bed‘ peaked one place lower. ‘If I Point At The Moon’, taken from their 1975 self-titled album, is a lilting, sublime pop ditty that sounds remarkably timeless. The song is featured in the US drama mini-series A Friend Of The Family, which aired recently on the Peacock network.
