An Optimal Illusion
The Mirage were a late 1960s psychedelic pop band from London, who later became Jawbone.
Their most notable releases were perhaps the 1967 single ‘The Wedding Of Ramona Blair’ and their cover of The Beatles’ psych classic ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’.
They also backed Elton John at some of his early concerts. Although both groups achieved little in the way of commercial success, vocalist Dave Hynes and guitarist Dee Murray replaced Pete York and Eddie Hardin in the Spencer Davis Group in 1968.
Cherry Red now controls the discographies of both bands, with a new 3-CD package due out in November on Grapefruit. Drop us a line if you’re interested.
