All That Jazz

All That Jazz

Cherry Red’s bijou jazz archive recently swelled with the addition of the Newcastle Big Band album from 1972, a rarity which has attracted interest as the first musical output from one Gordon Sumner (better known as Sting).

This joins a number of free/avant-garde jazz albums from that period by the likes of Lol Coxhill, Mike Osborne, Barre Phillips, Ben Webster, Johnny Griffin, and the Sahib Shihab Quintet (pictured).

We also control the rights to recordings by Bill Bruford’s Earthworks and 80s/90s jazz supergroup Fourplay, as well as the occasional trad and mainstream jazz LP from the 60s. Nice!
