ALL THAT JAZZ
Cherry Red’s jazz archive is represented through artists and groups such as The Ray Russell Quartet, Harold McNair, Gil Evans, Wynder K. Frog, the Newcastle Big Band(featuring Sting), Julie Driscoll and Affinity. More recently, we acquired the Gull catalogue, including albums by Isotope and Gary Boyle (jazz-rock/fusion) and Neil Ardley (jazz/classical). Cherry Red also have rights to various avant-garde/free jazz albums by the likes of Lol Coxhill, Barre Phillips, Mike Osborne, Howard Riley, John Taylor, Ben Webster, Johnny Griffin and the Sahib Shihab Quintet. And we also own some jazz big band albums. For more contemporary sounds, we also control the rights to recordings by Bill Bruford’s (pictured) Earthworks and last but certainly not least, the output of 80s/90s jazz supergroup Fourplay. Nice!
