Abstract Sounds, Amazing Music
Abstract Records was the brainchild of Edward Christie, who founded the label in London in 1981.
While Abstract’s output ran the gamut of independent music styles, Abstract was noted for albums by punk stalwarts UK Subs, The Varukers and New Model Army.
Cherry Red are now the proud custodians of much of the Abstract catalogue, which includes the album Tinderbox by Stiff Little Fingers, Takeover by 999 and output from bands as diverse as Done Lying Down, Atom Heart Mother, The Gymslips and Black Twang.
